Edited Highlights!

18 April 2013

Oh dear, it’s been soooo long since I managed to sit down to write about Imps! To catch up, I’m just going to bring you the edited highlights….!

During a Water session at Eye Children’s Centre, one little person was soooooo keen to climb right in….!

One of the activities at the Mother’s Day Special was Zen Sand, pink, sparkly and very soothing…….

Had a splendid time with Sensory Activities at Feoffment Pre-School: this paper pulp is scented with lavender and coloured purple.

So much high-quality science thinking during a Science Explorers session with Abbotts Hall Primary; the pendulum was great for predicting, testing and drawing conclusions about what actually happened.

Here is part of Mrs Lather’s Laundry in action at Little Melton Pre-school. It was one of a set of unusual shops all designed to encourage Communication & Mark-Making in a meaningful and motivational context.

Early maths, investigating volume and sizes was the focus here….I provided lemon scented rice as part of an Easter Stay & Play for Stowmarket Childrens Centre, but the children became very absorbed in precise filling. The white container with the blue lid being held by the child in pink dress only accepted a few tiny grains at a time…but was solemnly and carefully filled by several children.

A simple collection of eggs and eggcups resulted in many different games. Open-ended resources support children’s ability to invent games, empowering them to try out their own ideas through lack of instruction, and no recognisable right/wrong outcome.

So as you can see from these very edited highlights, the Imps blog has been very quiet, but Imps itself has been busy, busy, busy!  Lots more Big Days In and other events coming up, and all the regular sessions too….
