Excellent Ideas for Children & Adults  ♥  Play  ♥  Create  ♥  Explore

Workshops can be booked for a group as part of a conference, staff training day or twilight session. Suitable for anyone interested in learning through play such as early years practitioners, parents, teaching assistants, brownie leaders or volunteers.

Workshops are tailored to suit each group, but could include:

  •   A practical session, exploring a range of activities around the theme, to inspire you with new, (cheap) ideas!
  •   A making session, (all resources provided), so that you get to take something away with you, ready to use in your setting on Monday morning.
  •   Time to reflect on your practice, the power of open-ended activities and the opportunities they give practitioners.
  •   A tea break with lush home-made cake to keep you going.
  •   A set of laminated photo-notes to take away with you to refresh your memory.

The courses below are specifically aimed at practitioners in childrens centres. They have been delivered to First Steps to Play and Family Workers across Suffolk, receiving exceptionally positive feedback.

  • ♥ Creative Ideas for Stay & Play course. This course asks playworkers to consider the purpose of stay & play sessions, and then work from there to consider the way that they plan, the kinds of activities provided, how to cater for mixed ages in one session, building relationships with parents and some helpful practical tips to make life easier!  This course can be used to enhance any groups that are being run, providing lots of inspiration as well as food for thought.
  •  ♥ Beyond Stay & Play course. This looks specifically at equipping playworkers to run a 5 or 10 week course with parents, based on the rooms and materials they are likely to already have at home. It comes with a laminated resource pack, which gives clear examples of a session set-up for the group each week, a talking point and a takeaway play bag idea for each week. Many childrens centres have used this with targeted groups of most-at-need families.
